I’m aware it’s not exactly new, but I’ve decided to hop on the Twitter bandwagon. For those who are unacquainted with the service, I’ll try and break it down in simple terms after the jump.
Have you ever been alone and thought to yourself, “Boy, I wish someone were around to hear all my various witty remarks!”. Well, you’re in luck! Twitter is basically a service that allows you to post quickie updates on your thoughts or what you’re doing on the internet in 140 characters or less. If you’re familiar with Facebook, think status updates, it’s practically the same thing. People can choose to follow your “tweets” and they can reply or message you from there.
Twitter is honestly the type of thing that a few years ago I would’ve brushed off and said, “Pffft, stupid internet fad,” but since they use one of my images on their site I figured I could at least give it a try. And I have to say, I’m kind of diggin’ it so far. It’s a good way to keep up with people you like. I generally don’t look at anything on Facebook besides the status updates anyway, so the format suits me (and my short attention span) well. It’s also a great way for those who are interested to keep up with my new work. And even if no one really cares about my various witty remarks, at least now I can pretend they do.
I hate to admit it but I’m happier with the Twit nonsense than other forms…and I figure people who dig what you’re into won’t mind a stream of banter…maybe I’ll subscribe…maybe…
It’s definitely not that bad, at the very least, it’s low commitment.
