THE PROCESS

THE PROCESS – WHAT YOU GET AND HOW

I am able to offer clients illustration, graphic design and some animation services. I’ve tried to describe the basic process for each type of artistic request below, but please contact me if you have any questions. Note: Generally, the process is very similar, no matter what we are working with but it may vary from project to project.

ILLUSTRATION

WHAT YOU GET: Vector/digital artwork from concept to completion

  1. Call or email me to discuss your project.
  2. Based on your description, I may be able to offer an estimate (this is project-specific, as it is not always possible to determine the length of time/effort it will take to complete an illustration when given the specifications). If an estimate is not provided, I will give you an hourly rate*.
  3. Once we agree on price and any other terms, I begin doing any research and conceptualizing as needed.
  4. I send you a sketch of what I perceive to be what you are looking for.
  5. We make revisions/changes as needed.
  6. Work begins on the final product.
  7. I send you a draft of the final illustration, if approved, final touches are added. Minor changes/revisions can be performed if necessary.
  8. Final illustration finished, I send a low resolution jpg for approval.
  9. If the jpg is suitable, I send a bill out (emailed as a pdf or I can mail or fax a copy). Upon receipt of full payment, I send you the high-resolution files, checked and ready for print in publications or prepared for video applications, if applicable.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

WHAT YOU GET: Production-ready files for your logo, publication, or other print project

  1. You call or email, we discuss your project.
  2. Based on your description, I may be able to offer an estimate (this is project-specific, as it is not always possible to determine the length of time/effort). If an estimate is not provided, I will give you an hourly rate*.
  3. Once we agree on price and any other terms, I begin doing any research and conceptualizing as needed.
  4. I send you a draft copy of what I’ve cooked up, based on what we’ve discussed.
  5. We make revisions/changes as needed.
  6. Work begins on the final draft.
  7. I send you a draft of the final product, if approved, final touches are added. Minor changes/revisions can be performed if necessary.
  8. Final product finished, I send a low resolution pdf for final approval.
  9. If the jpg is suitable, I send an invoice out via pdf. Upon receipt of full payment, I send you the final print and press-ready files (format varies, dependent on type of project). This can be zipped and sent via email or FTP (if applicable) or I can mail or deliver a disc to you.

ANIMATION/VIDEO WORK

WHAT YOU GET: Production-ready files for use on electronic billboards, websites, etc.

  1. This type of work is a very special animal with differing workflows. Call me (or email) and we’ll talk.
* When dealing with new clients, it is standard practice to receive 50% of the project estimate (if provided) upfront.
